We can all use a break from our typical day to day routine. Whether you’re from Vancouver or an out-of-towner, it’s easy to take for granted the fact that downtown Van offers a great city layout with distinct attractions all within striking distance of each other. Whether you are planning your next vacation to thoroughly explore Vancouver or if you only have a single night to let loose, The Douglas in the Parq Vancouver offers a luxurious home base for your next getaway. In true Pacific Northwest fashion and as the name suggests, this spot shoots to achieve an interior ambience that will remind you of a stroll through the woods. After checking in at the long front desk resembling a fallen log, the long hallways covered in wood start to create the relaxed feel of The Douglas. We were not disappointed upon arriving at our room. To us, the dark wood and brown leather of the room felt original and unique, with a personalized and inviting touch that felt like our own little cabin in the woods. The amber lighting accented the space, not unlike the familiar feel of filtered sunlight seeping through the trees.

Once you’re settled in, you’ll really have more options than you can handle for what’s next. As you make your way down the elevator from your room, you can satisfy your appetite with sushi, pub food, or even a top notch steak at one of the five restaurants, hit the whiskey bar to sip, or roll into the chic and happening rooftop bar and lounge that was overflowing on the Saturday night we were there. If testing your luck is up your alley, the casino floor is bright and inviting to deliver on the thrills deep into the night.

One of the major reasons we love The Douglas is due to its location. On the north side of False Creek, you are easily within walking distance of many prominent and trendy downtown neighborhoods. Yaletown and Gastown are nice spots to take a leisurely walk, as are the major shopping spots on Robson Street and Pacific Centre, just to name a few. For the sports fanatic, the home arenas of the local NHL, MLS, and CFL teams are all literally a stone’s throw away.

By now, we think you get the point. Our only disappointment was that we only had one night to check out this gem – we absolutely hope to return, take in the serene feels of The Douglas, and more thoroughly explore parts of downtown that even us Vancouverites could benefit from getting to know better.
