You’re planning your trip to Oahu, and you’ve got a major choice – where are you going to stay? If Waikiki Beach is your destination, the choices for accommodations are endless. We recently stayed at The Laylow, Autograph Collection and had an amazing experience.
The styling and design, amazing pool and bar, and the relaxed vibe made such an impression that we would absolutely make a return trip to this gem. First off, it’s right in the thick of the action of Waikiki Beach, yet quiet and tucked away above the street level. It’s aptly named bar, Hideout, is a great place to escape from the busy streets in the afternoon, and the sofas, open air seating, and fire pits are an inviting spot to hang out with friends as live music fills the space at night.
Fully renovated and overhauled in 2017, the chic and hip aesthetic is created by the clear attention to every little detail throughout the space. Lively, vibrant pastel pinks, blues, and greens combine with clean, natural wood to put a contemporary twist on the classic Hawaiian feel.
When we got to our room, it’s layout felt more like a studio apartment with custom designed furniture and warm colors that felt nothing like your run of the mill hotel stylings. Even though the beautiful beaches must no doubt be your number one priority on your tropical holiday, The Laylow’s pool delivers a refreshing alternative to relax and hang out. We loved grabbing a drink during happy hour and lounging in the poolside cabanas before heading to the Hideout to take in the aforementioned live music.
This hotel had every little detail covered. Whether it was relaxing on our room’s day bed, strutting around in the complimentary his-and-hers floral flip-flops (they are pretty sweet, we’re not going to lie), or letting our inner kid loose by treating ourselves to the free daily shave ice, we were thoroughly impressed by the atmosphere we dropped into at The Laylow.
